When I arrive on performance day, where do I go?
On performance day, all dancers will enter through the main Bloom doors and will wait in the main lobby until backstage rooms open for check in. On show day, please do not arrive more than 40 minutes before show time. (We want to ensure that the dressing rooms are cleared from the previous show and ready to welcome your dancer.)
How do I check in my dancer?
Dancers will check in at their dressing room, with their Room Lead. Dressing room assignments will be the same as at dress rehearsal (and are listed on the lobby wall).
Who is allowed backstage?
Moms (or another female adult) are welcome to walk their dancer to their dressing room and help them change into their first costume. No siblings, dads, or men will be allowed backstage.
Can moms stay backstage during the Show?
For the safety of our dancers, all moms must leave the dressing rooms 15 minutes prior to the show beginning. Only volunteer moms will be allowed to stay backstage during the show.
How do I pick up my dancer?
Your dancer will need to be picked up backstage at the conclusion of the recital performance. For the safety of our students, we have a strict policy that only one (1) female adult is allowed backstage following the recital performances to check out your dancer. Dancers will be picked up from the same backstage dressing room where they were dropped off before the show. Please check out with the assigned Room Lead, and gather all belongings before leaving with your dancer.
Can I pick up my dancer early?
For the safety of all our dancers and to ensure everyone participates in the final bows, dancers must remain backstage for the entire performance.
Performance Day Tips
LOCATE YOUR SEATS EARLY: We highly recommend finding your seats during dress rehearsal, so that you will know where you will be sitting on recital day. If you did not print your tickets or cannot find your confirmation email, please contact support@danceatbloom.com so we can send you a confirmation of your tickets. There will also be a staff member in the lobby during dress rehearsals who can look up your ticket order.
LABEL COSTUMES: Please make sure that all costumes, dance shoes, and important belongings are labeled with your dancer’s name to prevent misplaced items during dress rehearsal and recital.
LAYERING (NUDE) LEOTARD: We highly recommend that dancers with costume changes wear a skin-colored (nude) layering leotard under their costume. Nude leos are not required but give older dancers extra support and covering. Nude leotards can be purchased through our Nimbly Store (or at Bobby’s Dancewear, located at 13471 West Center Road).
PACK LIGHT: Do not overpack your dancer; there will be many children backstage, and we don't want anyone to lose personal items.
COME READY: Dancers should come to dress rehearsal and recital with tights on, hair done, and make-up already finished (we can do touch-ups backstage). Costumes should be transported in the provided garment bag. Your dancer should wear a button-up shirt/dress or robe into the building so that their hair and make-up are not messed up when they put their costume on.
Performance Day Information
NOTIFY US OF NO MAKE-UP: If you DO NOT want your dancer wearing make-up, please notify us ahead of time or at the Bloom desk when you drop off your dancer so we don't apply any backstage.
NO SNACKS: Since Bloom’s recital shows are only one hour in length, please do not pack any snacks or food for your dancer. Dancers may pack a labeled (sealed) water bottle.
SUPERVISION: Children will be supervised at ALL times backstage.
SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES: If you have a unique situation that will require you to be backstage with your dancer during the show, please contact us by May 1st at support@danceatbloom.com to make special arrangements. You must be cleared in advance to be backstage.
FLOWERS: For those who are new to dance recitals, it is common for dancers to be given flowers after their performance. Flowers can be pre-ordered on our ticketing website, and pre-orders will be available for pickup at the merch table in the lobby. We will have a very limited supply of flowers available for purchase on the day of the show, so we highly recommend that you pre-order or buy your flowers from another source.
