Cultivate - Training Track

Currently, registration for our Cultivate program is closed. If you have an interest in our Cultivate Program, please register your dancer for the "Cultivate Program Waiting List" class in your parent portal (under the Cultivate tab). By registering for this "class", you are letting us know that your dancer is interested in joining Cultivate and you will be notified of any future upcoming placement assessments for Cultivate.

Cultivate Program OVERVIEW

Cultivate is a training track for dancers looking to be pushed, challenged and given constructive feedback as they grow and excel in their Ballet, Jazz and Modern training.

  • Cultivate is a track for dancers who are choosing to make dance their primary activity and focus.

  • Cultivate classes will remain true to Bloom’s positive and encouraging atmosphere but dancers should expect to be challenged and placed in a focused classroom environment.

  • Joining Cultivate would remove dancers from aged-based classes in Ballet and Jazz. Dancers will still register for Tap, Hip Hop, Musical Theater, Seeds and Contemporary with their age levels (Violets, Rosettes, Lilies, Bouquets, etc.)

  • Cultivate would be a great option for a dancer who has done a year or more of age-based classes and is looking for a more focused and challenging classroom environment.

Pre-Requisites:

  • Dancer must be 7 years old or older to join Cultivate.

  • One placement class must be taken before dancers will be enrolled. Dancers should expect to be placed NOT by age, but by skill/readiness level.

  • Cultivate will be a required program for our dancers who desire to dance on pointe. Once a dancer has gained the necessary strength, skill and technique required, parents will be invited to attend a meeting to learn more information and understand the expectations of being on pointe at Bloom.

  • Bloom encourages all dancers to start with age-based ballet classes before joining Cultivate.

Placement Process:

Given the intensity of the program and the limited space available in each level of our Cultivate Program, we want to ensure you understand what a placement class will determine for your dancer. Please carefully read the information below:

  • Dancers who participate in a placement class will be evaluated on their knowledge, skill demonstration, and class engagement to determine whether or not they are ready for our Cultivate program.

  • If evaluated as ready for our program, dancers will be placed into one of our Cultivate levels, based on their abilities and skills.

  • Following the placement class, you will receive an email detailing whether your dancer has been accepted into the Cultivate program, and, if accepted, your dancer's level placement.

  • An additional email will be sent communicating whether your dancer’s level is full or if there is space available for them to join immediately.

    • If your dancer’s level is full, you can opt for them to be placed on the waitlist for that specific level. Should space become available between June and December, you will be notified, and your dancer will have the opportunity to join that level immediately. (We do not allow new dancers to join our Cultivate Program in the spring due to preparations for our spring show.)

    • If there is space available at your dancer’s level (and you choose to join Cultivate), your dancer will immediately be invited to enroll in any upcoming Cultivate classes for their level.

Level Requirements:

  • The placement class will determine your dancer’s Cultivate level.

  • Dancers should expect to be in each level for a minimum of 1-3 years before advancing to the next level. Advancing to the next level is based on ballet technique which is adjudicated by the Cultivate Director.

  • Levels are not based on age but on technical ability which is assessed in their placement class and yearly placement assessments.

Due to the number of classes required for each Cultivate level, Cultivate dancers save money by taking advantage of our Unlimited Pass.
