Dress Rehearsal

Location: The Garden Theater (3125 Oakview Drive)

What is Dress Rehearsal?

Dress Rehearsal is a full on-stage practice of your dancer's Recital piece(s) at The Garden. It's a chance for them to rehearse in costume, with hair and makeup, just like the real performance!

Each dancer’s specific Dress Rehearsal time(s) are listed in your Parent Portal (select the INFO dropdown and click COSTUMES). See the video below for a tutorial of how to access this information:

What should my dancer expect at Dress Rehearsal?
Dress Rehearsal is a complete run-through of each Recital dance. Dancers should arrive with hair and makeup done, tights on, and costumes/shoes ready to be put on in their assigned dressing room.

Is Dress Rehearsal required?
Yes, Dress Rehearsal is MANDATORY for all dancers performing in the Recital.

When should we arrive for Dress Rehearsal?
Please arrive on time, but not earlier than your listed arrival time.

Where do I go when I arrive?
Please enter the building through the front northwest doors (look for the Bloom flower pots!).

Where do we check in?
Please check in with our Bloom staff at the front desk upon arrival.

Where will my dancer get ready?
Dancers will receive their dressing room assignment upon check in. (Boys will be directed to their own dressing room.)

Do I need to accompany my dancer?
For dancers under age 12, we require a female adult to accompany them to their Dress Rehearsal.

Who is allowed backstage?
Only female adults and dancers are permitted backstage (both hallway and dressing rooms) to assist with costume changes.

Can siblings come backstage?
To ensure the safety and privacy of our dancers, siblings are not permitted backstage. If you need to bring non-dancing siblings to Dress Rehearsal, we kindly ask that you arrange for an additional adult to supervise them.

Can family members watch Dress Rehearsal?
Yes! Unqiue to Bloom, parents and siblings are welcome to quietly observe Dress Rehearsals from the theater.

When do dancers change into their costumes?
Dancers will change into their costume(s) at The Garden (in their assigned dressing room) after checking in.

What should my dancer do after changing into their costume?
After changing, please report to the auditorium and sit with your class until called to the stage for rehearsal.

What is the food and drink policy?
No food or drink is allowed in the theater or backstage studios/dressing rooms. We will be strictly enforcing this policy. Thank you for cooperating and understanding!

Will class and individual pictures be taken at Dress Rehearsal?
Yes, both class pictures and individual photos will be taken as part of your dancer's scheduled Dress Rehearsal at The Garden.

What about combo class dancers?
Combo classes will perform their two dance styles in the same order at Dress Rehearsal as on performance day! (Our staff will be at check in to remind you which costume goes on first.) Once the first rehearsal is completed, dancers will return to the dressing room to change into their next costume.

What happens if my dancer has multiple classes or rehearsals?
If your dancer has multiple rehearsals, they will return to the dressing room to change into their next costume. (On performance day, our backstage staff will handle all costume changes, so you can sit and enjoy the show!)

What if my dancer has overlapping rehearsal times?
It is common for the listed arrival and departure times to overlap, but the times that your dancer’s classes are on stage will not overlap.

Can we find our seats for the Recital during Dress Rehearsal?
Yes! We highly recommend finding your performance day seats during Dress Rehearsal. A Bloom ticket table will be open to answer any questions about your reserved seats for performance day.
