Join us this summer as we begin our journey!

All dancers interested in the Nutcracker Ballet during the Fall are required to join us this summer to determine their casting for our Nutcracker Program! There are TWO ways to audition over the summer.

Please throughly read through the information below to find details about these options and updates to the Nutcracker Program in 2025. Please note that we can only accept a limited number of dancers, so we recommend registering early if your dancer is interested.

Option #2: Nutcracker Alternate Audition

Option #1: Nutcracker Audition Camp/Intensive

Please note: The camp and intensive is not designed for dancers who have no interest in joining us in the fall, this week is designed for those committed to the upcoming season and will be treated like a week audition.

What is the Nutcracker Program?

Nutcracker - Land of Sweets is a wonderful opportunity for your dancer to participate in a ballet holiday classic! If you have a dancer who enjoys ballet we highly recommend auditioning for the Nutcracker. This will be an experience they will never forget. 

Bloom’s Nutcracker has the heart of giving every dancer who auditions the opportunity to participate.  Our advanced dancers are given the lead roles in the production, as we value the opportunity for our dancers to experience that element of classical ballet.

The Nutcracker Program begins over the summer during our Nutcracker Audition Camp (Ages 7-12) and Nutcracker Audition Intensive (Ages 13-18). All dancers who wish to participate in the program during the fall must attend the audition camp/intensive or day. Likewise, all dancers who choose to attend the audition camp/intensive or day must be planning to participate in the program during the fall. 

PRE-REQUISITES:

  • Dancers must be students ages 9 - 18 years or Cultivate dancers ages 7 - 8 years.

  • Dancers must be enrolled in a Ballet technique class for the duration of the 2025/2026 season.

  • Dancers must have been enrolled in a ballet class (at Bloom or another dance studio) for the year prior to the audition to be eligible for auditions. 

  • Nutcracker dancers must have a commitment to attendance at all rehearsals and performances, and are only allowed 2 absences.

  • Nutcracker dancers must sign a participation contract.

  • Nutcracker parents must sign a communication agreement.

AUDITION PROCESS:

  • There are two ways for a dancer to audition for the Nutcracker Program in 2025:

    • OPTION #1: It is Highly Recommended that dancers attend the week long Nutcracker Audition Camp/Intensive.

      • AUDITION CAMP/INTENSIVE: The Camp/Intensive will be considered the dancer's audition, and will include elements such as ballet technique, class readiness, and stage etiquette. Each of these elements, as well as the dancer's Nutcracker repertoire, will be considered to determine each dancer’s casting in the production. 

      • Dancers will sign up for the camp or intensive option via their Parent Portal.

    • OPTION #2: Dancers can attend a single day Nutcracker Audition at their designated age.

      • ALTERNATE AUDITION: This single audition day will resemble years past. Dancers will be given numbers and asked to demonstrate technical skills along with a short ballet phrase given to them on the spot.

      • Parents please email support@danceatbloom.com to be added to the secondary audition.

  • All dancers who audition will receive a role in the Nutcracker Program; therefore, our program has a maximum number of dancers we can accept. We assume that every dancer who auditions will commit to participating in ballet technique for the upcoming season and can already commit to Saturday rehearsals between 9:00 AM and 2:30 PM, as well as every mandatory rehearsal (no exceptions). 

  • Post audition, dancers will receive an email with their specific role, rehearsal time, schedule, and contract to sign as their official commitment to the Nutcracker Production.

  • Please Note: Dancers who decline their role will be unable to participate next year out of fairness to all who wish to participate.

  • Nutcracker Registration Opens: January 28th, 2025

  • Nutcracker Audition Intensive (Ages 13-18): Monday, July 14th - Friday, July 18th, 2025, 9:00 am  - 12:00 pm

  • Nutcracker Audition Camp (Ages 7-12): Monday, July 14th - Friday, July 18th, 2025, 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

  • Alternate Audition (Ages 13-18): Thursday, July 10th, 2025, 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm

  • Alternate Audition (Ages 7-12): Thursday, July 10th, 2025, 5:45 pm - 6:45 pm

  • Boy Roles Audition: Thursday, July 10, 2025, 7:00 pm - 7:30 pm

  • Adult Roles Audition: Thursday, July 10, 2025, 7:30 pm - 8:00 pm

  • Casting Released: Wednesday, July 23rd, 2025

  • Role Acceptance Deadline: Friday, July 25th, 2025

  • Nutcracker Families Charged: Monday, July 28th, 2025

  • Required Nutcracker Parent Meeting: Wednesday, August 27, 2025

  • Weekly Rehearsals: September - December, Saturdays at Oakview Location between 9:00 AM - 2:30 PM

  • September 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th

  • October 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th

  • November 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th

  • December 6th, 7th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th (mandatory)

  • Dress Rehearsals (Mandatory): Saturday, December 6th, Sunday, December 7th & Thursday, December 11th.

  • Performances (Mandatory): Friday, Dec. 12th, (All Day - Dancers will be asked to miss school), Saturday, Dec. 13th & Sunday, Dec. 14th 2025

  • Ticket Launch to Nutcracker Families: Tuesday, October 28, 2024

  • Ticket Launch to Bloom Families/Public: Tuesday, November 4, 2024

PRICE:

  • Nutcracker Camp & Audition/Intensive & Audition: $209 (After June 1st, increases to $219)

  • Nutcracker Single Audition Day: $25 (After June 1st, increases to $50)

  • Nutcracker Program Fee: $300 (Includes rehearsals, costumes, & cast shirt)

  • Nutcracker Tickets: $20 + tax

FAQs:

Is there a limit to the number of dancers who can audition for the Nutcracker? There are a little over 100 audition spots available for the Nutcracker performance. Our goal is to give roles to all dancers who audition, but once the audition spots reach full capacity, we regret that we will be unable to accept additional dancers. Early registration for auditions is strongly encouraged.

If my dancer auditions, will they get a role in the Nutcracker? As long as your dancer will be enrolled in a ballet class at Bloom or your local dance studio for the upcoming season, has at least one year of ballet experience, attends the audition, and commits to the practice dates, your dancer will be in the Nutcracker performance.

What types of roles are available?

Ensemble: This role is a group of 10 - 20 dancers who will be grouped by ballet level and will attend a Nutcracker class together to learn a specific Nutcracker dance. Everyone will be assigned to an Ensemble.

Solo, Duets and Trios: Not everyone will be given a solo, duet, or trio. If you are given one of these roles, you will have extra class practices to attend on the scheduled Saturdays.

Can my dancer take part in the Nutcracker performance and Ember Performance Team? Yes! If you are age 14+ and can commit to practices and rehearsals, the Nutcracker will not interfere with the Ember Performance Team. Nutcracker rehearsals will be held on Saturdays.
