weekly intensive descriptions:
Evergreen Dance Company and Contemporary Intensive (June 10th - 13th) with Artistic Director, Ali Darr & Rehearsal Director, Sarah Zembraski:
Experience a week of what it is like to be an Evergreen Dance Company member. This intensive will start with a contemporary company class followed by a company piece from a previous show. This intensive is great for dancers with previous contemporary experience who want to grow in story-telling choreography and contemporary technique.
Hip Hop Intensive (June 17th - 20th) with Ejanae Hume:
Liven up your knowledge of hip hop with a high-energy, fast-paced, intricate week of Hip Hop. This intensive is sure to make you sweat with an hour of hip hop basics followed by a hip hop choreography piece. We will focus on sharp formations, attention to detail, and the athleticism of dance. This week is geared toward dancers with previous hip hop experience.
Creating Choreography Intensive (June 24th - 27th) with Ali Darr & MJ Thompson:
Ever wonder what it takes to create a performance piece or what it is like to be the one creating choreography and watching that choreography be performed? This intensive focuses on choreography tools, creating choreography, and how to “see” choreography through the eyes of the instructor. This intensive is for experienced dancers who are comfortable dancing by themselves, with a willingness to step out of their comfort zone and a boldness to learn and lead.
Jazz Intensive (July 8th - 11th) with MJ Thompson & Sarah Zembraski:
Step into the world of musical theater, with high-intensity jazz training with an emphasis on performance! Take a technique master class in jazz and execute jazz choreography with a musical theater flare. This intensive is designed for dancers with previous jazz experience.
Modern and Partnering Intensive (July 15th - 18th) with MJ Thompson:
Fall into a week of modern technique and partnering skills where energy, effort, and momentum are commonly used. Partnering is a dance expression used to describe how dancers interact with other dancers (i.e. lifts, guided movement, or supported skills). This intensive is designed for modern, contemporary, and ballet dancers with a strong core and foundational strength. Be prepared to learn modern repertoire with partnering aspects.
Ballet and Lyrical Intensive (July 22nd - 25th) with Remmi Plath:
It is commonly said that ballet is the foundation of dance technique. Come work on your dancer lines in ballet class and see how this ballet foundation coincides with the lyrical dance style. Each day, you will take a ballet class followed by lyrical choreography. This intensive is geared toward experienced contemporary and/or ballet dancers who want to work on the details of technique.
