SUMMER WEEKLY CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Bloom Dance Studio / Omaha, NE / Summer Classes

NEW! Dance Outreach/Liturgical (10+ yrs): We are so excited to introduce this new class to our Bloom Summer Schedule! This 90-minute class will include 45-minutes of Liturgical dance which will grow dancers in their skills while allowing them to experience the power of worshiping God through movement. The other half of the class will be spent in a mentorship program. We will pray, discuss and dream about how we can use worship and dance ministry to reach our city. Dance With Me (2-3 yrs)

Share those special smiles and hugs in our class designed especially for a parent and toddler. We will incorporate creative movement, parachute, tunnels, ribbons, scarves and more. This class provides the perfect introduction to movement and a great excuse to get out of the house and do something special with your toddler. Not limited to parents - Grandparents, Uncles or Aunts are welcome to bring their special toddler to this fun class. Cost covers one adult and one toddler. Click here to view schedule...

Creative Movement (3-4 yrs)

This class is based on a fun, well-organized atmosphere for children ages 3-5. Dancers will learn many skills to enhance their balance, coordination, social skills and confidence. We use age-appropriate songs and dances to provide a nurturing, stimulating, yet structured classroom specifically designed for this age. Tiny Tappers (3-5 yrs)

This introductory coed tap class is packed with fun! This is a low pressure way to introduce students to basic tap steps. The only requirements is a pair of tap shoes and a big smile. Click here to view schedule...

Tiny Tumblers (3-5 yrs co-ed)

Does your child like to turn, roll and jump? This is coed tumbling class for little beginners! We will work on the basics tumbling and acrobatic skills that include warm-up, stretching, balancing and simple mat work. Click here to view schedule...

Ballet gives dancers a solid base to learn many other forms of dance. It improves grace, coordination and confidence. Each class will include barre work, center floor technique and across the floor combinations.

  • Beginning Ballet (5-7 yrs): Dancers will enjoy learning the basics and fundamentals of ballet in this beginning ballet class. This class will introduce ballet by incorporating basic terminology with the positions of the feet, hands and body.   • Ballet I (6-9 yrs): Ballet I is intended for dancers with beginner ballet experience and is a great class for first to third grade students who plan to continue dancing throughout their school years. Click here to view schedule...

  • Ballet II (10+ yrs): Ballet II is a great class to continue training in ballet concepts and disciplines. Ballet II becomes a 60-minute class and students will be pushed and challenged in their growth and knowledge of ballet. This class is also recommended for Teen Dance students who would like to give ballet a try but have never done so before. Click here to view schedule...

  • Ballet III (12+ yrs): This class will be more advanced and more complex. It is essential that you have a strong foundation in ballet to be in this class. Dancers will practice for an extended time at barre at the beginning of each class before moving onto center floor work, turns and jumps. We will work to fine tune technical execution and training of the body. Four years or more of strong ballet training is required to be in this class.   • Ballet IV (with permission): This will be our most advanced ballet class at Bloom. Students will need a strong foundation in ballet with at least five years of strong ballet training to be in this class. Dancers will work for an extended time at the barre at the beginning of class before moving into center floor work. A portion of this class will also be spent dancing on pointe.   • Ballet III/IV Technique (with permission ): This class will provide an additional opportunity for students in Ballet III or IV to deepen their ballet skills and combinations throughout the week. Expect to spend more time at the barre and be pushed in this class to really reach your potential. Click here to view schedule...

  • Pre-Pointe/Pointe (with permission): This class is for the experienced dancer who has been given permission by the instructor to participate in pre-pointe or pointe. On average students are at least 13 years old before beginning pointe and have taken years of ballet. Click here to view schedule...

  • Adult Ballet: Adults taking our summer dance classes can expect to reduce stress, get some exercise, and do something new and fun! Tap: Students in tap will enjoy expressing themselves in this fun and interactive class. Tap is a great way to improve rhythm, musicality and coordination. Dancers will practice rhythmic patterns and combinations with tap shoes. Tap, a unique style of dance involving specific and rapid footwork, is highly recommend to help your child become a well-rounded dancer and for those children who tend to be more “free spirited.”

  • Beginning Tap (5-7 yrs): Beginning Tap is a fun and energetic class for 5-7 year olds (including boys)! Tap is a great foundation class for young dancers to build rhythm, musicality and coordination. In this class we will introduce basic tap steps such as shuffles, falaps, ballchanges and other beginning combination tap steps.   • Tap II (8+ yrs): Tap II is for students who have taken one to two full years of tap dance. Tap II will build on the steps learned in Tap I and then additional steps and speed. Click here to view schedule...

  • Tap III (8+ yrs): Tap III is for students who have taken two to three full years of tap dance. Tap III will build on the steps learned in Tap I and Tap II and continue to increase steps and speed. Click here to view schedule...

  • Adult Tap: Excited about dance but not quite sure if it's for you? Come to Adult Tap! Tap dance is a great way to reduce stress and have fun while getting in some good exercise and an opportunity to challenge yourself! At Adult Tap we will focus on the beginning skills of tap dancing and after a short time you're making music with your feet! Jazz has become one of the most popular dance styles in recent years. People enjoy watching jazz dancers because the dancing is fun and energetic! Jazz class will showcase a dancer's individual style and originality, while students express themselves in a fun and interactive way. Students will learn more challenging jazz skills through imagination activities and movement. To excel in jazz, it’s helpful for dancers to also take a ballet class, as it encourages grace and balance

Acrobatics: This class teaches strength, flexibility, and tumbling! Our classes will group students into appropriate skill levels and then focus on basic mat work, including forward and backward rolls, handstands, cartwheels, round offs, walkovers and limbers. Eventually we will work on handsprings, aerials and standing back tucks. This is a great class for a high energy student!

Pom/Cheer (6-10 yrs): This is a special class to expose dancers to jumps, turns, kicks, techniques and combinations used in cheerleading and dance team! Hip Hop: Using games and music, the class focuses on rhythm, musicality and basic footwork. It is a great way to get kids moving! This class will encourage students to step outside of the box by bringing their own individual style and personality to the movements. Hip-hop dance requires students to build strength and stamina to successfully perform the moves.

Lyrical dance are all styles of dance that combine elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, contemporary dance and classical ballet. Students will strive to connect the mind and body through fluid dance movements. These stylces of dance tell a story. It stresses versatility and improvisation to allow students to take a step and make it their own!

Pilates/Conditioning (16+ yrs): As a mom of five kids, Jocie understands the importance of making your workout time make sense for your needs and time constraints. During this Pilates and Conditioning class we will focus on toning and conditioning your body. We will work all muscle groups' strength and flexibility, with an emphasis on challenging the core muscles with each movement. The workout can be tailored to meet the needs of beginners as well as advanced individuals. Combo Classes: Combination classes are a great way for students to try two different styles of dance in one class period. Class time will be evenly split between the two styles. Students who have a difficult time making it through a solid ballet or tap class will enjoy this new class structure. (see descriptions above for information on these dance styles)
